John Marie Cablay is a Grade 12 student taking Humanities and Social Sciences. She will be representing not only Agay National High School but the entire municipality of Remedios T. Romualdez in the upcoming Agusan del Norte DRRM BAE 2019.
The said event will be held in Robinson Butuan City on July 30, 2019.
The Agusan del Norte Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council launched on 21 November 2012 the Youth Operative in Urgency-Nurturing Goodwill-Agusan del Norte Emergency Response Team (YOUNG-ADNERT) Project. The project, an organization of Junior High students of Agusan del Norte is one of the BOLD MOVES that the PDRRMC has undertaken.
Section Section 14 of Republic Act 10121 or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 stipulated that the NDRRMC, the RDRRMCs, the LDRRMCs, the LDRRMOs, the BDRRMCs and the SK councils shall encourage community, specifically the youth, participation in disaster risk reduction and management activities, such as organizing quick response groups, particularly in identified disaster-prone areas, as well as the inclusion of disaster risk reduction and management programs as part of the SK programs and projects.
Rather than regarded the youth as passive victims of disaster situations, the council believes in the importance of engaging youth in environmental sustainability and disaster risk reduction and management decision making processes and provide them training opportunities to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and attitudes for them to become better future leaders.
